The wolf’s ears drooped at the nickname, but it didn’t push back, either. “Thanks,” Saffron said, rubbing the back of its neck. “I knew I wanted something sturdy and long lasting, so this seemed like the best choice of the lot...”
Eisbaer awkwardly balanced the sapling in her hands. It was far too big and heavy for her tastes, but suitable for someone of Saffron’s build. The wood was even reddish, like his fur. “Is this...”
It coughed and looked away. “Redwood, yeah. I would never do this to a real tree,” it was quick to add. “But the others I checked were...not a good fit.”
She nodded and laid the sapling on her table. It was still very much dressed, and would take some time to strip, trim, and shape. A fun little project for the next day. Or night? Being nocturnal was so exhausting...
