CH 133 — With Friends Like These (season 5 finale)
“Sorrel, is it?”
Zelamir leaned against the cane her doctor (and Laken) insisted she use when out and about. They seemed to think she was frail, in constant need of a shoulder to lean on. In reality, she retained some muscle weakness from being bedridden and suffering a nasty back injury. She asked if it were possible to correct that with magic, but the response was far less generous.
“Magic can do many things, but it can’t undo serious injuries, nor can it revive the dead to their full selves. Loved ones of the deceased will only receive husks of the person they once loved,” Dr. Augustus had said.
That didn’t make her feel good, but she was assured that a full recovery was possible—with time, treatment, and reasonable optimism.
